Summer is finally here and things are heating up with Aerial Infrared bridge deck scanning projects! With aerial infrared, we are able to scan up to 200 bridge decks in a single day and produce quantities and maps of delamination, spalling, and patching! Infrasense engineers recently completed a lower frequency ground penetrating radar (GPR) scan of a roadway section to map areas of underlying settlement and voiding. The GPR data confirmed the limits of the settlement, which generally aligns with severe cracking along the pavement, as well as a subsurface water line. Infrasense was in Tennessee recently, completing ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys of state highway pavement sections to report layer thicknesses and areas of asphalt stripping. This work is part of a larger on-call contract that Infrasense holds. Charl brings over 5 years of experience in near-surface geophysical investigations, focusing on utility locating/mapping, bedrock and stratigraphy mapping, subsurface material characterization, and buried debris/ object detection.
