Pardon the exclamation overload, but we have some VERY BIG NEWS!!!! The new PDX opens August 14th!!!! We’re putting the final touches on the space – ticket counters are in; artists are finishing their magic; trees have been planted (!!!); and local shops and restaurants are getting their signs up. All that’s missing is YOU! If you've got travel plans on or after August 14th, you'll be one of the first to explore everything PDX-y and new. But hey, even if you're not flying, you can still join the fun! Come hang pre-security and grab a drink, a bite, and soak in the stunning views on the mezzanine or vibe to live music by PDX musicians near the stadium seats. It’s like a mini-Portland neighborhood right inside the airport – no boarding pass required! We can’t wait to welcome you to your new PDX home.

  • We’d like to introduce you to Hoffman Project Engineer Ryan Hill. Ryan wasn’t sure if he wanted to go into construction, medicine, or become a professional athlete, but after graduating from Oregon State University he ended up at Hoffman and we’re glad he did. Ryan is currently working at Oregon Health & Science University where he is building his career in the construction industry – and helping people in the process. “Being able to build something that’s going to directly impact and benefit someone is…words can’t describe it. It’s such a great feeling. And you really feel like what you’re doing is purposeful.” – Ryan Hill Are you looking to build your engineering career and do meaningful work in the construction industry? We currently have 13 different engineering positions open at Hoffman. Please visit https://lnkd.in/gaFEz8zK to see if one of them is right for you. #hoffmanbuilds https://lnkd.in/gxqCFRky

  • It's true, you can do some pretty incredible work when you have the right partnerships. And the Port of Portland #PDX Airport is irrefutably a real community effort. We can't wait to share the new and improved Portland International Airport Terminal Core with everyone. Thank you for visiting Heather McGinn-Girón, AIA, NOMA, and we'll see you back here in August, right? #PDXNext #flypdx Skanska ZGF Architects

FIELD TRIP! One of the most innovative projects in building technology in the country right now is hands down the Port of Portland PDX Airport. Many photos posted of progress in recent months but nothing prepares you for the sheer SCALE of this roof. Looking forward to its opening in August when all Portlanders will get to experience this truly sublime space. Innovation all around from the nine acres of Mass Timber roof, daily TCO, the curtain wall hung off the curving roof, to the growing landscape inside the airport there are huge feats and so many firsts. Not to mention innovation in the Skanska + Hoffman GC partnership on this project, highlighting what epic feats out of the box teaming arrangements on the construction, design and development sides can achieve. We need more of this if we are going to meet today’s building challenges.  Bigger room means deeper expertise to tap into - and we’re truly better together. Frankly it feels like the whole of the Portland Design community was involved in this one - a real community effort. Big big gratitude to Skanska and Hoffman Construction Company and Debbie Hutchins, Joe Schneider, Larry Curran and Matt Stevens for touring some of the NOMA PDX family. Some photos (the good ones) may actually be Debbie Hutchins. Can’t wait to learn more about the Architectural journey from the ZGF Architects team and Gene Sandoval who unfortunately was out of town for this tour. Art gallery open to the incredible roof above and OG PDX carpet + New Floor Zena Forest Products looking good. #PDXNext #masstimber #buildinginnovation

  • If you want to tour the Newhouse Building Replacement project, here's your chance.

Join AIA Seattle this month for a Mass Timber tour of our Newhouse Building Replacement. Constructed in 1934, the original building faced life-safety and seismic issues that required its replacement. Our design integrates the neo-classical style of the campus while incorporating elements specific to the Washington state region and resource stewardship, using state-sourced materials like mass timber to support an ecological footprint. The hybrid part-steel part-timber design features dowl-laminated timber (DLT), a product where acoustic materials are embedded into the wood, resulting in neat wooden strips threaded over one another. Miller Hull Architect Nick Clesi, AIA, and Japneet Pahwa will lead the tour with co-leaders from Lund Opsahl and Hoffman Construction Company. The tour takes place on July 20th and will begin at the Newhouse Building in Olympia before making its way to Milgard Hall at UW Tacoma. • There's a good reason we're so excited about our newly renovated Equipment Yard...and we think you'll understand why if you watch this video. In the first few seconds you'll catch a glimpse of our old warehouse and administrative offices. Although it served us well for many decades, we were long overdue for an upgrade. We were very fortunate to have Mackenzie design us a new state-of-the-art space that will serve us well into the future. The redeveloped site significantly increased our storage space for equipment, dramatically improved our natural lighting, reduced our water usage with new plumbing fixtures and drought tolerant landscaping, improved and increased parking, and created designated spaces for our work trucks to turn around. We have a large training room and new meeting room that we're already putting to good use and we couldn't be happier with our new administrative offices. We now have the space and amenities we need to do our best work, and we couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. Thank you, Mackenzie!

  • We are very excited to share that Hoffman’s newly renovated Equipment Yard is open and we are now able to serve more clients, more efficiently than ever before. Our primary facility at the yard met the end of its useful life, so in 2019 we began Phase 1 of a complete replacement. The new state-of-the-art facility includes a brand-new warehouse, shop, administrative offices, conference/training rooms, and parking lots. We also installed several sustainability features, including a 100kw rooftop solar array (which is generating at least 70% of the facility’s power), water bottle filling stations, and off-site manufacturing capabilities. This project represents our company’s single largest investment - and we are proud that it’s in Portland, where Hoffman began, over 100 years ago. Here’s our President & CEO Dave Drinkward and Equipment Yard Manager Ryan Thrush at our recent Equipment Yard open house. #hoffmanbuilds

  • Every 4th of July we have an opportunity to commemorate and celebrate our nation’s freedom. We also have the opportunity to thank all those who sacrificed to make that freedom possible. Hoffman wants to thank everyone who has served our country and protected our independence. Everyone here at Hoffman wishes you and your family a safe and happy holiday.

  • Hoffman Construction has been refurbishing, replacing, and repairing various building elements and systems in the Oregon State Capitol building for the last few years. We are making seismic upgrades and ADA improvements to the historic facility and safely conducting work while the capitol is occupied - with minimum disruption to the legislative calendar and ongoing operations. KATU recently visited the project site to learn more about our Capitol Accessibility, Maintenance and Safety Projects from Project Superintendent Josh Faulkner, and we wanted to share this Your Voice Your Vote segment on the renovation. #hoffmanbuilds https://lnkd.in/gHygJtgA
