We are excited to offer in-person sessions anchored to our work in our focus areas: Core Content, Language Development & Scaffolding, and Climate, Culture, and Voice. Come experience the wealth of knowledge our district staff have to offer in these areas. You will be able to strengthen your practice by taking away practical strategies and skills that you can implement while engaging in collaborative dialogue with colleagues. We will have Dr. Eugenia Mora-Flores, USC Assistant Dean of Teacher Education, Educator and Author in PK-12 Language, Literacy, and Latinx Culture, as our Keynote. Classified and licensed staff are invited to discover new ideas and resources from colleagues around the district. The Hillsboro School District has joined forces with Junior Achievement of Oregon & SW Washington to introduce Biztown and Finance Park simulations to our students at a brand-new location in downtown Hillsboro. Junior Achievement is dedicated to empowering and equipping young individuals to thrive in the global economy by offering immersive programs that foster work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. Since its inception in 1950, Junior Achievement of Oregon & SW Washington (JA) has been a vital affiliate of Junior Achievement USA, which has a rich history of providing economic and financial education to K-12 students for over a century. This year, HSD proudly facilitated the participation of over 1400 5th graders and more than 200 high school students, with plans underway to involve even more students next year!
