We’ve all seen the backlash from the HR community on SHRM’s decision to drop "equity.” It’s been both upsetting and puzzling to many who work in this space and understand the importance of equity in our work. Equity is a word we use and will continue to use at Great Place To Work US. However, some organizations have stopped using the D word “diversity." Now, it’s “equity.” Are we still good with inclusion and belonging? Or will those words seem unnecessary, and the mission to create inclusive workplaces slowly fade? Some certainly hope that to be true. But not leaders who prioritize high-trust cultures where every person feels seen, heard, and valued. We analyzed more than 521,000 employee surveys to understand how employees talk about DEIB. https://bit.ly/4bFyT5e We found that of the 24,000 employee comments about DEIB, 83% voiced support for DEIB activity in the company. That means that for every comment that opposed or complained about DEIB programs in a company, five voices argued that DEIB efforts were worthwhile and should continue—or even increase. Leaders looking for a competitive edge must ask: “Is my organization equitable?” https://bit.ly/4dlAIWn Our research has found that DEIB is best measured using the “Four Equities” framework. 1. Equity of representation 2. Equity of compensation 3. Equity of opportunity 4. Equity of well-being Our work isn’t easy, but it’s necessary. #GreatPlaceToWork #GPTW4ALL #DEIB #Equity
