There was no better way to start summer than building bikes for 2nd graders at Dupont Elementary in Commerce City. Seeing their faces light up and helping them learn to ride was pure joy. Thank you Wish for Wheels for helping us make this giving opportunity so special! No engineers were harmed riding adult big wheels while filming. We can’t say the same for our planners….

As June comes to a close, we want to acknowledge the importance of National Safety Month in our industry. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of work-related fatalities in the United States, making our commitment to enhancing communities a top priority. Denver South intern Kate Brusoe shares their thoughts on how FHU’s contributions to traffic safety initiatives positively impact our communities and advance risk reduction practices. FHU’s broad multidisciplinary services go beyond the roadway. In honor of last week being Pollinator Week, we want to celebrate the work that our environmental teams do across the country to promote, educate about and secure funding for native pollinators and vegetation. Showcased here is City of Council Bluffs Valley View Park where FHU restored the native habitat and created educational signage. For Iowa Dot Living Roadway Trust Fund, FHU has secured grant funding and works to educate communities on the benefits of native vegetation that supports pollinators.

In honor of Women in Engineering Day yesterday, we wanted to hear from our own about what being a woman in engineering means to them. With the industry average at just about 16% women in the field, FHU staff is made up of more than 43% women. Cheers to the incredible women who are leading the way and shaping the future of engineering! #WomenInEngineeringDay
