Today is Global Day of Parents honoring parents worldwide. At Energizer, we understand that many of us will take on caregiving roles in our lifetime – whether that be looking after elderly parents, supporting a disabled sibling or partner, or of course, as parents. We recognize the challenge of balancing competing demands and want to support our colleagues as much as we can. With this, we are delighted to be launching our new employee resource group – 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 (EWC). The EWC is an inclusive group of colleagues who represent many of the different family configurations today. The group’s mission is to serve as a resource by fostering community, increasing awareness of available benefits, programs and policies, and encouraging dialogue about the variety of professional, personal and family responsibilities that our colleagues balance. In May, we celebrated Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month through a series of curated events, led by Mosaic, Energizer’s Asian ancestry employee resource group. We learned about events that provided deep insights into the past, present and future of Asian American heritage. Here’s a recap of the programming: 𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 Paraag Maddiwar, Director of Professional Programs at SASE - Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, provided a data-filled virtual keynote to kick us off. He shared compelling stories, a sobering history going back hundreds of years, as well as SASE Pro data and common factors about progression. “𝐌𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞” 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧  Asian ancestry colleagues served as moderators and panelists to openly share their personal and professional journeys, offering a unique perspective on the Asian-Ancestry experience in the West. The stories were humorous, touching and, at times, painful and poignant. An audience member’s comment summed it up best – “I laughed, I cried. I learned so much.”  𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧-𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫 Our colleagues gathered to watch a video of Simran Jeet Singh, author of “The Light We Give,” speak about reframing discriminatory experiences. We then broke into small group discussions to learn how many of us have overcome such challenges.  𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 Members of the Mosaic Leadership Team shared their own cooking videos of their favorite Asian heritage recipes and the stories behind them. #CelebratingAsianHeritage #AsianAmericanHistoryMonth #BiggerThanBatteries
