Located in Olde Reynoldsburg, EMH&T worked with the City to improve a main corridor with a combination of $4 million in grants and zero-interest loans from the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC). The project along Main Street improves the streetscape between Davidson Drive and Jackson Street (Phase 1), and then Jackson Street east to the Waggoner Road/Graham intersection (Phase 2). The goal of the project is to increase walkability, improve landscape, lighting, and parking to make the area more of a "downtown destination", along with expanding retail and gathering spaces. The new pedestrian friendly environment will allow better connectivity to help revitalize the entire area and attract new businesses.

EMH&T team members spent the morning volunteering at the YWCA Columbus Family Center. Employees worked together to clean-up the playground area, flower beds, and trash pick-up around the site. The Center offers families safety and support, and has a strong history of empowering women in our community. This remarkable refuge provides social justice, housing, and youth development/early childhood education. For more information on all the resources the YWCA provides the central Ohio community, check out their website: https://lnkd.in/eStddfQ

On Friday, June 28th, EMH&T’s Joel Brown (Archeologist) and Heather Dardinger (Senior Environmental Scientist) attended a dedication ceremony for the historic Brown-Harris Cemetery in Dublin, Ohio. Both EMH&T team members provided archeological and environmental services in association with the City of Dublin, Ohio USA University Boulevard, Phase 2 project―uncovering a cemetery dating back to the 1850s. EMH&T’s work confirmed that the cemetery area includes at least 22 graves. Due to its historic significance as a 19th-century, rural, African American burial site, it was determined to be eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. EMH&T partnered with the City of Dublin and the Brown and Harris families to preserve and commemorate the site. International Women in Engineering Day was recently celebrated this past weekend on June 23, 2024. At EMH&T, it is important we provide not only a place to nurture professional growth, but to support the lives and livelihoods every day for the women at EMH&T. Yesterday, we launched a Women’s Group, a unique opportunity to provide additional resources by gathering together, and providing speakers, training, etc. As we move toward the future, in this 98th year of business, we embrace all of the women who work at EMH&T. Each and every one of us use our talents and gifts in the engineering industry to contribute to the success of EMH&T!

You know it’s a good day when you get to make smores at work! Smore-making was a perfect part of the ribbon cutting celebrating the grand opening of the Caesar Ford Campground in Greene County, Ohio. Caesar Ford is Greene County Parks & Trails first campground site boasting 12 Class-A, full hook-up, pull-through sites suitable for large RVs, fifth wheel campers, and truck/trailer combinations. Additional amenities include: combined shower house and restroom structure, large-event sized picnic shelter, informational kiosk, dedicated parking, dump station, trail head connection to the Xenia-Jamestown multi-use trail, and connections to the over 10 miles of equestrian trails located throughout the Park. EMH&T authored the feasibility study that identified the incredible potential for the site and then partnered with the Park District to provide landscape architecture and civil engineering design. Congratulations Green County Parks and Trails!
