EA is leading research aimed at investigating the link between insectivorous birds and PFAS-contaminated prey. Collaborating with Towson University and USGS, Jamie Suski's research is shedding light on PFAS concentrations and chemical profiles found in winged and non-winged insects, which are a primary food source for birds like tree swallows and house wrens, respectively. Following the first of two field seasons, sum PFAS concentrations in insects range from 100-230 parts per billion.
