Derecktor Dania was pleased to host M/Y Mary A, the multi-award-winning 55m superyacht launched by Feadship in 2005, for a four-week yard period this past winter. Derecktor’s team assessed the bottom paint condition and because she had not been blasted in a decade, determined the best course of action was to blast the bottom hull to bare steel before applying new protective coatings. NDT thickness measurement testing revealed significant material depreciation in a few areas, so additional tank plating, bulkheads and internal framing replacement were recommended. Her yard period also included sea valve maintenance. All these repairs and a few more were completed on time and budget, allowing Mary A to get underway for an important owner trip, thus exceeding our client’s expectations. A shoutout to specialists from Atlas Marine Group and American Marine Repair for their fine craftsmanship and attention to detail on this project. #derecktor #derecktorshipyards #superyacht #feadship #refit

Derecktor Ft. Pierce is thrilled to announce the arrival of our first FTZ (Foreign-Trade Zone) client! Launched by Feadship in 2016, the elegantly sculpted M/Y JOY is a sprawling 70-meter superyacht and fits well within our FTZ boundary. Her imaginative use of glass creates true synergy between the indoors and outdoors... One of the many reasons why she’ll be a main attraction during the Palm Beach International Boat Show. She’s currently listed for sale with Merle Wood & Associates Luxury Yacht Brokers. For more information about Derecktor or the benefits of our FTZ, visit the U.S. Superyacht Association Pavilion (Booth No. 920A) during PBIBS to speak with a team member. https://lnkd.in/eng2si5g

Thank you to our friends at BOAT International Media for sharing their experience with the new CrewContainer. Derecktor is excited to partner with Gym Marine Yachts & Interiors and Saltlick fitness- Improving crew sanity in introducing the CrewContainer, a rugged portable workout gym based on the popular Saltlick Crew Bench. Built by Derecktor, this container-based gym is designed for shipyards or any other facility with limited workout space. More importantly, it allows yacht crew to maintain their fitness regimen and continue enjoying the benefits associated with regular exercise. The CrewContainer can be designed to each customer specifications, with additional lighting and power configurations. This prototype can be seen at Derecktor’s Dania Beach yard and we’ll soon open a second CrewContainer at Derecktor Fort Pierce.  Feel free to check them out during your next visit to Derecktor and let us know what you think!

There seems to be a trend to use containers for everything from storage to portable gyms. And this is a great idea from Gym Marine and Salt Lick Fitness (trainers for yachts), which is to bring a portable gym to the crew wherever crew may be so they can keep in shape and keep their life in balance, for instance at a shipyard. After all, what's best to reduce stress than a great sweat sesh? The Salt Lick trainers are in incredible shape (obviously!) and I can see how this one particular workout with 11 moves can keep you super fit in 30 minutes or less as well as leave you in a puddle of sweat. It's a great concept overall and I especially liked the "gym in a box" idea: the workout bench and weights fit in a relatively compact rectangle and can be taken offshore or fits just about anywhere on a yacht. You can see it there, among the photos. For this demo, Gym Marine and Salt Lick Fitness set up their container at the Derecktor Shipyard in Fort Lauderdale a couple of days ago and invited crew for a workout. I watched from the sidelines. Everything (rower, stationary bike, punch bag, weights, weighted balls, etc) fits inside the container. Chin up bars are built in. Great people and it was a beautiful evening to boot at Derecktor's. The good pictures are courtesy of Gym Marine. #crewlife #yachties #fitness

Another success story from Derecktor Ft Pierce. The impressive 215 feet motor yacht Invictus by the American shipyard Delta Marine was our most recent guest at Fort Pierce. As usual, Robert Mac Keen, John M. Resnik and their team, did a fantastic job taking care of this yacht. #derecktor #fortpierce #megayacht

Be the reason, to be trusted. Give the confidence they are looking for, in your walk, in the words you choose, know when to speak, when to be understanding, when to be firm. Listen to learn, to get things done, to be persistent, to deliver results. Be an educator, be a mentor, be kind, never be behind. Lead the way, pick up the fallen and carry the over burden, finish together. Share the knowledge, show you care, breathe life, smile, enjoy, have fun and enjoy the adventure.

Sometimes the difficulties are possibilities. I’ve been blessed with a motley crew of good people to supervise. Equally as important is the OPs/PM partnership with our Project Managers, John M. Resnik and Kyle Copeland. Having the “Five Feet of Fury” from Mark Meredith’s Global Marine Management on hand is as entertaining as it it is assuring; a diverse skill set that is rare to see in the industry nowadays. Andrew Lynskey and Steve Hughes’ team at Datum RMS are our constant partner in almost everything we do. I’m proud to have been connected to them since their early days in the company. They’ve saved the situation more than once! Much appreciation to Fabrizio Alfier and the Cimolai Technology team for shaking out an inconvenient gremlin to make the launch of this boat possible today. And as always, thanks to Doug Morrison for bringing to boat to DFP. We work hard to make the crew and Richard Young happy. Collaborative relationships work much better than combative egos. Success is best when shared.
