Design inspired by the cells, petri dishes, and microbes that drive scientific discovery, Dispatch Biotherapeutics Headquarters in Philadelphia is home to research labs and office space dedicated to cancer therapy. dbHMS’s design for this project focused on Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Systems and Lighting Design for two floors. The ICT Systems features a flexible, expandable, and robust structured cabling system that supports the client's high-speed, high-bandwidth network which is essential for communications. Security systems included an electronic access control system limiting access into lab spaces to credentialed personnel. Audio visual systems consisted of sound reinforcement, video displays, audio and video source input, control systems and room scheduler systems within conference rooms and huddle spaces. Lobby/Lounge includes a 5x7 video wall with ceiling mounted speakers and wireless microphone system for hosting large office presentations and digital signage. The customized lighting design provides appropriate illumination to different space types considering factors such as light level, lighting contrast ratio, light color rendering, and suitable fixture types for the environment. Additionally, the design incorporates lighting control functionality to meet the needs of specific functions while accomplishing current energy conservation standards. The networked lighting control system simplifies troubleshooting and offers flexibility for future office layout reconfigurations. We were glad to put our skills to the test for this project and look forward to more opportunities in the lab and research space! Thanks to the team! Congratulations to the team for winning the The American Institute of Architects (AIA)'s National Building Award for the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts! dbHMS is proud to have provided Building Systems Design and Sustainability Consulting services for this outstanding project. Balancing architectural intent with innovative systems was a true challenge, but our team successfully integrated air handling systems and high mass radiant heating and cooling, for this architectural gem. A diversity of space types including a children’s theater, museum galleries, restaurant, art school, and event areas, making a tightly controlled thermal environment essential. With an in-slab radiant heating and cooling system, a space can be enhanced for comfort, air quality and noise reduction. We are thrilled to have hit the museum’s sustainability goals and look forward to contributing to more award-winning projects! 🌟🏆 #AIANationalAward #SustainableDesign #ArkansasMuseumofFineArts Studio Gang Pepper Construction Group Polk Stanley Wilcox SCAPE Landscape Architecture DPC Thornton Tomasetti McClelland Consulting Engineers, Inc. This historic redevelopment project in Chicago's Lathrop Homes has transformed the community. The meticulous renovation of 16 historic buildings and an innovative new structure have brought the 3-phase project’s vision to life. Offering public, affordable, and market-rate housing, Lathrop Homes fosters a diverse, vibrant neighborhood. Integrating modern technology in a historic site often poses its challenges. In order to provide efficient climate control throughout each building while preserving the aesthetic, Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems were installed. Our site also underwent rigorous energy rating assessments, addressing deficiencies to pave the way for sustainable and affordable housing solutions. Unified expertise across our Design, Commissioning, and Databased+ studios crafted a remarkable project. Setting new standards, Lathrop Homes exceeds expectations and realizes an inspiring community vision. Thanks to our partners, HED Related Companies #LathropHomes #InclusiveLiving #Affordablehousing

Proudly striving for Net-Zero Energy certification, Heartland Community College is fostering a greener future for generations to come! The building uses a large roof-mounted solar array that is designed to produce more electricity than the building uses throughout the year. The net-positive energy performance includes the highly energy intensive greenhouse, which uses solar curtains, evaporative cooling, thermal mass, and LED lighting to limit energy use. dbHMS designed 25 geothermal wells to provide radiant heating and cooling for the building. The building relies entirely on the geothermal wellfield and does not have a backup boiler. We commend Heartland for their environmental stewardship and teaming with us to achieve their sustainable goals! #netzeroenergy #sustainableeducation #AEC #HeartlandCollege Heartland Community College Legat Architects River City Construction LLC Baumann Consulting
