About us
Our company is the product of a partnership formed between two high school students, John Cooper and Chris Tacia, in 1996. The two began a business splitting firewood and selling it by the truckload to local folks around Sanford, NC. Proceeds from selling firewood became the seed money for a small development in western Harnett County, NC. We were incorporated in 2003 and named Southeastern Properties and Development Company as a reflection of John and Chris’ dreams of developing large neighborhoods and constructing all of the houses in them. Our first construction projects took place in the early 2000’s. They were mostly small residential renovations like bathroom and kitchen remodels, along with the construction of a single home that we built speculatively. Over the years many opportunities have presented themselves, including custom-built homes, and we have steadily grown our client and revenue base. This year we will complete projects throughout the southeast United States ranging from large-scale manufacturing, office buildings, government and education facilities, restaurant & retail spaces, apartment complexes, and water and wastewater treatment plant upgrades. In 2020 we renamed our company to Cooper Tacia General Contracting Company.

We're excited to announce that the expansion of the Southeastern Timber Products sawmill in Ackerman, MS, is almost complete! In just a few weeks, we'll finish the new 55,000 sq. ft. planer building, which includes electrical rooms, a control room, offices, and maintenance spaces. We're also adding truck tarping equipment to ensure a safe and efficient loading process for drivers. This project has required careful coordination and attention to safety due to the other work taking place. We’re proud to say we have had zero safety incidents and have not affected the mill’s production. It's amazing to watch how fast the Multipurpose Building at Henderson Collegiate is coming together. We are continuing to wrap the exterior, install the roofing membrane, and have begun rough-ins within the building. We are diligently working on completing the interior framing and preparing for drywall installation. Once the walls are set, we will move on to interior finishes and exterior flat work. The Steves & Sons project in Athens, GA is well underway. We have 11 pre-engineered metal buildings, 3 masonry buildings, and 2 building upfits in various stages of construction. The forming buildings are nearly complete. Structural steel for the electrical room has been set and we’ll be pouring the slab on deck in the coming days. We’ll soon begin erecting our first masonry building on this site. By the end of this project, our team will have installed over 100,000 square feet of new production space, maintenance facilities, and office space.
