Congrats Ion Storage Systems!
ION Storage Systems is collaborating with world-class partners on a $40 million commercialization initiative! We are pleased to announce that ION will be receiving $20 million in funding as part of a three-year, $40 million commercialization initiative thanks to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s ARPA-E SCALEUP program and several world-class commercialization partners. We are eager to work with industry leaders, like KLA, a leader in high precision process and quality control systems and Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s largest ceramics, glass and material suppliers, to accelerate a path to large-scale commercial deployment of our solid-state batteries (SSB). ION’s collaboration with this all-star team provides a path forward toward commercializing cleaner, more powerful and groundbreaking SSB technology. The ARPA-E SCALEUP program has long recognized, championed, and advanced technologies that transform how we live, work, and communicate. ION is thrilled to be selected for the SCALEUP award and we welcome our ongoing collaboration with the DOE. #IonStorageSystems #BetterBatteries #Investment #DOE #SCALEUP #EVs #Electricvehicles https://lnkd.in/eCkA_-bJ

⚡ I'm excited to announce a fresh $2m USD ($3m AUD) in combined government funding and partner support to build Seaflight Technologies (YC S22)'s all-new flight demonstrator. It's a large electric cargo drone we call AURAE. The award was made from Australia's Emerging Aviation Technology Partners (EATP) program from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, announced by Senator the Hon. Anthony Chisholm. Built around aerodynamic technology we developed in concert with support from the US Air Force and the National Science Foundation, the AURAE platform is designed to be the most efficient – and long range - of its kind when it takes flight in 2026. It’s a startlingly simple aircraft in some respects… you don’t send a Bugatti to do the job of a Ford Transit van. But there’s innovative aero good stuff where it matters, and that’s what helps cancel out the capability gap from today’s batteries 🔋 Making it cost-effective to fly cargo with zero operational emissions – and no green penalty hidden in the total cost of ownership – opens up new possibilities for regional and remote Australia and, eventually, anyone anywhere 🌏 A who’s who of Australian companies and organizations are lined up to be a part of delivering this project and we’ll be introducing them to you soon - all helping to place the country at the leading edge of advanced aviation technologies 🇦🇺 We’re thrilled to deliver this project in partnership with Macquarie University Faculty of Science and Engineering in Sydney, working side-by-side with Dr. Sammy Diasinos and his research team. Back in 2005, before his cars were scoring podiums in F1, Sammy asked if I wanted to come help with a solar electric car he was working on. For me, that turned into years of designing vehicles that set electric speed and endurance world records. Now, we have some flying to do. I’m thrilled to announce Swift Solar’s Series A! ☀ We raised $27M led by Eni Next and Fontinalis Partners, with participation from a diverse group of investors including Stanford University, Good Growth Capital, BlueScopeX, HL Ventures, Toba Capital, Climate Capital, Adam Winkel, Jonathan Lin, and James Fickel, along with amazing founders like Sid Sijbrandij and Fred Ehrsam. 3 things to know: 1) Solar is the future of energy. Solar is growing faster than any other energy source, and it will provide over half of the world’s energy by 2050. Solar PV is one of the most important technologies for the future of humanity. 2) Perovskites are the future of solar. Perovskite tandem solar cells can outperform anything on the market today using less material and less energy. Tandems will make solar energy even more affordable and more widely accessible. 3) Swift Solar is pioneering perovskites. Our next-gen tandem technology will help bring solar manufacturing back to the US and stop climate change. We have hit major performance and stability targets and started making commercial-size tandem cells on our prototype manufacturing line. With this round, we are advancing from R&D toward manufacturing scale-up in the US. I'm excited to start the next chapter of Swift Solar’s journey with the support of our incredible investors and partners. If you want to help build the future of solar, please reach out! We’re hiring for key roles across R&D, Engineering, BD, and Marketing. Learn more about our Series A here: https://lnkd.in/g-93GUZ7
