Check out our new street signs! The City of Morgantown is delighted to unveil a special tribute to Don Knotts on Fife Ave, named for Knott's iconic character, Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show. The street sign commemorates the 100 years since the beloved actor's birth. Thank you to our Public Works department for braving the heat wave this week to get the signs hung before the week long celebration taking place at the Metropolitan Theatre. After 8 weeks of classes, the members had a graduation ceremony during one of our recent City Council meetings to receive their certificate of completion from City Councilor and Deputy Mayor, Joe Abu-Ghannam afterwards they had a reception to celebrate their achievements. The Community Development Services coordinator will work residents, City agencies and other stakeholder groups to identify, create, implement and evaluate new policies, programs, projects and initiatives that make Morgantown a great please to live, work, play, raise a family and retire. In addition to serving as the primary point of contact and support staff for the City’s Neighborhood Coordinating Council, the Coordinator will be responding for developing and managing a tool-lending center (library) for the community. The mobile library (initially) will be designed to help residents address property maintenance issues and keep our diverse neighborhoods clean, safe and inviting.
