  • On July 12, 1990, Captain Rosemary B. Mariner became the first woman to command an operational aviation squadron, Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 34 (VAQ 34). She is one of the first women to become qualified as a naval aviator in 1974 and one of the first women to fly light attack aircraft. Mariner attained the rank of Captain before retiring in 1997. 🎊⚓️Hooray! The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Turns 50 Today!   NAVSEA, the largest of the Navy’s six systems commands responsible for the building, buying, maintaining, and inactivation of ships, submarines and systems, celebrates its 50th anniversary, July 1.   Created on July 1, 1974 from the merging of the former Naval Ship Systems Command and the Naval Ordnance Systems Command, and with shipbuilding origins dating back more than two centuries, NAVSEA has maintained its commitment to supporting the public and the US Navy’s Fleet.   Follow us as we celebrate our command’s rich history with commemorative posts and inside peeks into the celebrations with “The Force Behind The Fleet.”   For more information, read more about NAVSEA’s 50th Anniversary here: https://lnkd.in/eyJsDJAf   #NAVSEA50 #NAVSEA #TheForceBehindTheFleet

  • Happy Independence Day! Today we celebrate all of the freedoms we have as Americans. To quote our GM, "We have freedoms that are mere dreams to others around the world, and at BPMI, we further get to defend those freedoms in a unique way." Today, and every day, we are proud to live in a country that grants us the "great privilege to live with freedom, and as BPMI employees, we are privileged to support our fleet in protecting those freedoms. May we never take either responsibility for granted." What freedoms are you most thankful for this Fourth of July? #BPMIProud

  • On this day in 1850, the Naval School at Annapolis, Md., was renamed the US Naval Academy and adopted a four-year course of study, providing students with the ability to obtain a bachelor's degree in their study of choosing. With an 11% acceptance rate, the Naval Academy prepares young men and women of high caliber to become officers in the US Navy and Marines and exemplifies one of the 15 principles established by Admiral Hyman G. Rickover for the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program: Selection, Training, and Qualification of the Best People, Dedicated to Excellence. #navalhistory For more information on the U.S Naval Academy visit https://lnkd.in/gF9G8DQ3.

  • Our People, Appreciation, & Connection Team (PACT) did an amazing job hosting our luau-themed company picnic this year! From colorful decor to Hawaiian-inspired foods, our employees were treated to an evening of fun and community building. This year's picnic featured lawn games, a salsa competition, basket raffles, delicious food, and our annual dunk tank fundraiser. Thank you to all of our employees who supported and attended this beloved annual event! #peoplegetthingsdone #teamwork #BPMIProud

  • For 155 years, Americans have set aside a day to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, dying in service to our country. However, real heroes never die; they live on in our hearts to inspire us, motivate us, and guide us. They are the ultimate examples of resilience, aspiration, and courage. Our fallen heroes may not be here to share their stories, but we can memorialize them as we remember their sacrifice and truly appreciate our freedom. It is a privilege to support those who sacrifice their lives to protect the freedoms we enjoy every day. Thank you to all of our military heroes; you are remembered today and always. #BPMIProud #meaningfulwork

  • The month of May provides for a time of reflection and gratitude to honor the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives serving in the United States Armed Forces. Enacted in 1999 by Congress and honored every May, Military Appreciation Month encourages Americans to reflect on the sacrifices made by Soldiers, Sailors, and all current and former military personnel. To honor Military Appreciation Month and Memorial Day, the Navy Link Team recently distributed yellow ribbons to our workforce to serve as a reminder of the responsibility we at BPMI have to help bring our Sailors home safe and sound to their loved ones. This long-standing tradition is just one more way we are keeping our military heroes on our hearts and minds this May. #MemorialDay #MilitaryAppreciationMonth #BPMIProud #TeamNavalReactors #USNavy

  • Did you know one blood donation can save up to three lives? For more than 20 years, BPMI’s Community Affairs Committee (CAC) has helped to make the communities in which we live and work a better place for everyone and fosters friendships among colleagues through volunteerism. The CAC recently sponsored another successful American Red Cross Blood Drive at our Monroeville, PA, and Schenectady, NY, offices. Collectively, our employees donated 61 units of blood! Thank you to these everyday heroes, our CAC members, and the American Red Cross. #giveblood #BPMIproud
