Care About People Last Friday, most of our Baker Group interns volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, dedicating their efforts to constructing and completing decks at three different locations on the east side of Des Moines. From building steps and ramps to adding the final touches on the decking, they worked diligently to address the needs of our community. At Baker Group, caring about people is a fundamental part of our culture. We are proud of our interns for exemplifying one of our core values. Way to go, team! What an awesome crew we have at Baker Group. Last week, our talented team successfully set a large rooftop unit at the Carpenter Paper building on the southern edge of downtown Des Moines. The unit, weighing 22,000 lbs. and measuring 53' long and 9' wide, was installed in just one day. Congratulations to our dedicated team: Dan Dumerauf (Foreman), Scott Burkman, Brandon Reed, Ty Scott, Logan Hupp, and Jerry Morrill. Your hard work and efficiency are truly commendable!

At Baker Group, safety is always a priority. That is why we proudly observed National Trench Safety Month during June, with a special focus during National Trench Safety Week from June 17-21. Our dedicated operators participated in an extensive training update on Trench and Excavation Safety. This training covered essential protections such as benching, sloping, shoring, and shielding, as well as important safety considerations like access and egress, ladder usage, soil classifications, air monitoring, confined space regulations, and competent person requirements. Ensuring trench safety is crucial to our team and we thank our team for all they do to look out for the well-being of themselves and their teammates!

Our amazing Baker Group interns recently volunteered at ChildServe in Des Moines, working tirelessly to beautify some of the outdoor spaces. From spreading mulch to weeding and more, their hard work and dedication didn't go unnoticed. The team at ChildServe praised them for being "go-getters" who truly made a difference.
