Apeiron Labs is reimagining ocean monitoring by developing solutions to decrease the marginal cost and effort of ocean sensing by orders of magnitude. Our oceans play a significant role in the global economy, weather, and long term climate trends. The Blue Economy is currently estimated at $1.5 trillion and expected to double by 2030. However, our real-time knowledge of the oceans is woefully incomplete. Existing and emerging markets require 4D ocean data - volumetric data over time - which is prohibitively expensive to acquire with today’s technologies. We need radically innovative approaches. Our co-founders, Applied Invention and S2G Ventures, have a successful track record of creating and investing in some of the world’s most impactful technologies and companies. We are hiring. We are thrilled to be partners with Apeiron Labs, a company dedicated to scaling upper ocean observation to transform our understanding of the current and future state of our oceans! Apeiron Labs’ Tensor platform captures upper-ocean data. This platform consists of large, cost-effective networks of persistent sensors that can gather volumetric data, such as temperature and salinity readings, for months or even years at a time. These sensor systems are uncrewed, autonomous, and capable of station-keeping and delivering real-time spatially persistent data. The applications of this data are limitless. Persistent upper ocean data is necessary to create efficiencies and reduce costs across industries, such as shipping, renewable energy, and aquaculture.
