The Alaska Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Management is hiring a Short-Term, Non-Permanent Emergency Management I or II position in Outreach. This is short-term non-permanent position is for four months, from May 1-August 31 or June 1-September 30, 2024, in Anchorage, Alaska. This position requires the individual to be able to work nights and weekends when needed. This position will also travel throughout the summer with the earthquake simulator. Primarily this position will fill the gaps in the outreach section during the busy summer months. This position may also work in other division sections when not needed in outreach. This position will: • Assist the Outreach Branch Chief in the development, coordination, and execution of community outreach programs. • Assists in the development and conduct of significant conferences, workshops, fairs, and other events as assigned. • Assist in creating and maintain preparedness and mitigation information displays for public events. • Assist in coordinating language translation of various materials and briefings. • Conducts community events and outreach activities. • Assists in coordination with federal, state, tribal, and local public safety and emergency management agencies to maximize jurisdictional preparedness planning, preparedness, operations response, and disaster assistance. • Assists in the maintenance, movement, and operation of the Division’s Earthquake Simulator. OR A bachelor's degree, in any field, from an accredited college. EMS 2 Range One year of entry professional level experience mitigating against, preparing for, responding to, or recovering from emergencies, disasters, or terrorist events. OR Two years of entry professional level experience either creating contingency plans, conducting exercises to evaluate plans and training, responding to events creating civil disruption or environmental disturbance, or coordinating the recovery from such events. OR A bachelor's degree, in any field, from an accredited college; AND One year of entry professional level experience either creating contingency plans, conducting exercises to evaluate plans and training, responding to events creating civil disruption or environmental disturbance, or coordinating the recovery from such events.
