Last week, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that $289 million will be awarded for newly upgraded runways, taxiways and other infrastructure projects at 129 airports across the country. Most of the grant will go towards infrastructure and the remaining will be used for planning, equipment and other improvements. The AIE Rhode Island team celebrated the opening of one lane of the new Sayles Hill Flyover! This is just 1/3 of the bridge, but it's already made a huge difference, eliminating the traffic jams caused by the last traffic light on a major limited-access highway. Yesterday, Abul Islam, PE, FASCE, the President/CEO and Founder of AIE, took the stage at the 2024 Rebuilding New York Summit to speak on the "Innovation in Rebuilding New York" panel. The panel tackled critical issues, discussing how New York is rapidly evolving and the role of new technologies, practices, and developments in enhancing efficiency, health & safety measures, sustainability, and livability. They delved into the latest plans and programs aimed at providing affordable housing and shelter for those experiencing homelessness. Since 2023, AIE has been providing task-based construction engineering and inspection services to the City of New Britain, and we are thrilled to be part of the Stanley Loop Trail Phase II project. This project includes the construction of a 1.6-mile bituminous multiuse trail, perfect for walking, biking, and running. Highlights include: - Two pedestrian bridges with CMU block abutments on geotextile and RSF systems. - Prefabricated metalized truss superstructures for each bridge.
