The June 2023 release of the International Sustainability Standards Board (#ISSB)’s inaugural standards, IFRS Foundation S1 and IFRS S2, ignited a global push for standardized sustainability reporting, with major economies like Japan, Canada, and Brazil announcing adoption and adoption intent. This surge demonstrates a growing demand for enhanced transparency, comparability, and accountability in sustainability reporting worldwide.    In its recent SDR implementation update, the UK government solidified its commitment to this global movement by adopting the Sustainability Disclosure Requirements (SDR) and announcing plans of the UK-endorsed ISSB standards – the UK Sustainability Reporting Standards (UK SRS), available in Q1 2025. Mandatory disclosure requirements are likely to be effective no earlier than accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026. While the UK's implementation timeline provides some flexibility, forward-thinking companies are already recognizing the strategic advantages of early ISSB alignment, including:  ⏩ First-mover advantage: Demonstrate leadership and commitment to sustainability to investors, customers, and stakeholders  ⚠ Risk management and mitigation: Identify material sustainability-related risks and opportunities early on, allowing for proactive adjustments and strategic decision-making  🔢 Data readiness and operational efficiency: Streamline sustainability-related reporting and data collection processes, essential for accurate and efficient reporting   🌐 Stakeholder management: Build trust and establish strong relationships with key stakeholders, and gather valuable insights through stakeholder engagement    Importantly, the ISSB framework is designed to be interoperable with other leading sustainability standards and frameworks, such as the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (#CSRD) and building on the work completed by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (#TCFD). This interoperability will help to reduce the reporting burden for companies while ensuring consistent and comprehensive disclosure.     At Agendi, we believe that successful ISSB implementation goes beyond compliance, capitalizing on the integration of sustainability into core business strategy and leveraging sustainability reporting to drive business transformation. We offer tailored guidance to help businesses navigate the ISSB framework, optimize their reporting process and develop a tailored implementation strategy for long-term success.

🚀 Big News in Sustainability! 🚀 The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol) and the IFRS Foundation have joined forces! They signed a MoU to collaborate closely and align their efforts in developing and updating sustainability standards. This partnership will drive further harmonization in global climate reporting. The GHG Protocol's Corporate Standard is now integrated into the IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures and other IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards managed by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). Why is this partnership important?  👉 Consistency and compatibility: The MoU ensures that GHG Protocol and ISSB work together to provide consistent and compatible standards, reducing the burden on companies and improving the quality of disclosures.  📉 Reduced costs and efforts: By harmonizing their standards, the partnership aims to minimize the costs and efforts required from companies in their sustainability reporting.  🔎 Enhanced transparency: This collaboration will enhance transparency and accountability in corporate climate action, providing the capital markets with reliable information.  🌐 Countries adopting or planning to adopt ISSB standards:  Several countries have either adopted or announced plans to adopt ISSB standards, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Nigeria, Brazil, and New Zealand. These countries' commitment to ISSB underscores the growing global consensus on the importance of standardized sustainability reporting. At Agendi, we see this as a game-changer for businesses navigating the complex landscape of greenhouse gas reporting. Emmanuel Faber, ISSB Chair, highlighted the importance of this partnership in enabling companies to measure their emissions consistently, while Ani Dasgupta, WRI President and CEO, emphasized the clarity and consistency it brings to the reporting process. With the regulatory impacts of the CSRD in the EU and ISSB standards globally, businesses will face more stringent reporting requirements, driving better sustainability practices and greater accountability. We look forward to seeing the positive impacts this partnership will have on our clients and the broader business community. #Sustainability #GHGProtocol #IFRSFoundation #ClimateAction #SustainabilityStandards #CorporateResponsibility #GreenhouseGasEmissions #ESG #SustainabilityConsulting #BusinessForGood

Last week, we had the honor of hosting a thought-provoking session with Dr. Philip McAdoo. His insights on Pride, allyship, intersectionality, and DEI have inspired us to reflect more deeply on how we can become a more inclusive and supportive company during Pride month and beyond: 🤝 True allyship involves advocating for and standing up for others. Balancing the role of an ally with the risk of overstepping boundaries requires a deep commitment to listening and learning. By actively listening to the experiences and needs of those we aim to support, we can better understand when to step forward and when to step back. 🎉 Pride recognizes the many ways of being and celebrating who we are. Dr. McAdoo highlighted the progress made by young people stepping into their identities and the need to address societal fractures. It's important to (help) find spaces and communities that validate who we are and boost our confidence. 📈 Focus DEI efforts on systems rather than individuals to avoid "othering" and promote inclusive problem-solving. Measure DEI efforts with both quantitative and qualitative metrics – put some 💜into it! 👊 Real, authentic support takes the form of focusing on the benefits and experiences we offer to people at the margins. It’s important to be patient and humble, understanding that change doesn’t happen overnight. People need time to process and reflect on new ideas, opening the door to growth and transformation. Inspired by Dr. McAdoo and our team, we are committed to celebrating and supporting our/the LGBTQ+ community, during and beyond Pride Month. Actions on our radar: Open dialogue: Provide our team with a space to discuss their experiences more openly and frequently. We will reframe our monthly team coffee chats to encourage these conversations. Ongoing training: Revamp and enhance our inclusion and diversity training programs, emphasizing the importance of continuous development. Our taskforce team stresses that this is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time effort! Community engagement: Actively look for ways to support the LGBTQ+ community, including supporting local businesses. Happy Pride, everyone! 🌟 #PrideMonth #Inclusion #Diversity #Allyship #DEI #CelebratePride
