Keep a transparent backlog for everything else and review it with the Client when you reach certain milestones to see if some things can be moved into MVP, but be conservative.

Do not commit to the timeline under pressure. Estimation, prioritization, and planning will set realistic timeline expectations (at least within a ±10% range). Moreover you will be equipped with facts, limitations and assumptions for timeline negotiation. It is important to fully and clearly understand why the timelines are so extreme to develop and agree on a communication strategy from both sides.

Consider not agreeing to a timeline to begin with. Most deadlines are artificial anyway. It's way for clients to feel a measure of control. Don't be shy to have them explain why the deadline exists at all. And, unless you're 100% confident you can deliver by the deadline, don't agree to it. You can use words like "best effort" and "target dates", but just don't commit to it.
