Last Thursday, we celebrated a monumental milestone – our 100th birthday!   To mark this special occasion, we hosted a club night called BALL GAMES, inviting Umbro friends and family to join us at The Northern Quarter’s iconic venue, Soup.     A big thank you to everyone who joined in and made the evening unforgettable – especially our “secret” DJ act, Evian Christ, who performed a mesmerizing trance set for us.   It was amazing to see so many of you wearing your favorite Umbro pieces. What better way to celebrate such a milestone than in our home city?    Here’s to the next 100!

If you have been following Umbro on Instagram you will have seen our series of Always Umbro posts.  Each post highlights a story from Umbro’s history.  The 11th and final chapter of the series lands today on our 100th birthday.   “Always with distinction” celebrates our founder Harold Humphreys.  His vision and relentless quest for quality, innovation, and improvement, built a brand that is not only ingrained in Britain’s textile but the world’s footballing history. Harold might not have come from much. But he amounted to plenty.

We continue marking our Centenary year with the launch of ‘United by Umbro’, a fresh global collection and campaign celebrating the festival of Football in Europe and the Americas in June 2024.   Inspired by our extensive back catalogue, the ‘United by Umbro’ collection underlines the unifying power of football by fusing iconic Umbro kit graphics into a striking selection of mash-up jerseys for key countries in both tournaments. The perfect jerseys for fans who take their casualwear cues from both football and fashion.   The United by Umbro jerseys inspired by the Euro 2024 tournament are embellished with unique woven crests, designed by revered kit designer and “Blood In Blood Out” founder, Floor Wesseling. Tapping into Floor’s expertise in heraldry, the crests unite traditional and contemporary heraldic identifiers for each nation in the collection creating a tribute to the unwavering passion supporters hold for their national teams.   The jerseys celebrating the 2024 Copa America, feature the striking mash-up of Umbro archival graphics and crests inspired by each nation’s flag.   Manchester-born photographer, Louis Bever brought both parts of the collection to live with his unique style of photography - inspired by the art form of classic Romanticism and featuring models in vintage football shirts.   Since 1924 Umbro has been celebrating the unifying power of Football and we are proud to work with partners such as Floor and Louis, who share our passion for the beautiful game. Wherever there is Football, there is Umbro - since 1924. Our founder Harold Humphreys believed that if you look smart, you play smart. He believed that products crafted with style and true insight gave Umbro athletes a competitive advantage. It’s a principle we still celebrate today. For this reason, the design of our collections is never just about the look, everything has been applied for a reason, blending insight and innovation with style and experience gained over many decades.   As early as the 1950s we partnered with leading sports experts to create the perfect garment and today we carry this ethos into sports culture, fusing heritage with trend, and the pitch with the street. We join forces with exciting designers to celebrate the very essence of our brand, including collaborations with Nigel Cabourn, Christopher Raeburn, Henry Holland, Aries Arise, Palace, Rowing Blazers, Patta, Supreme, Vetements and Off White – just to name a few…   The Westminster Menswear Archive, part of University of Westminster, explored Umbro’s 100 years and its influence across sportswear and global fashion in the new “Umbro 100” exhibition at the Ambika P3 in London 100 years of British sportswear and its influence on global fashion.   We used this amazing and unique environment as a platform to celebrate our 100th anniversary with friends of the brand and our partners from around the world. At the same time, we also launched Spring/Summer 2025 to our global network – a once in a lifetime opportunity to look back and forward at the same time. A special thanks to Professor Andrew Groves, Dr Danielle Sprecher, the University of Westminster for curating this insightful exhibition. Thank you to all the guests who joined us in raising a glass to celebrate this milestone for Umbro – and finally a very big thank you to all of our partners for travelling to London and for keeping the fire burning! The exhibition is still open to the public and worthwhile a visit:   Umbro 100: Sportswear x Fashion  Ambika P3, University of Westminster, London, NW1 5LS  12 – 28 April 2024  Free admission  Open every day between 11am – 7pm
