https://lnkd.in/eAbs5RbJ I was genuinely saddened to read of Gareth Southgate's resignation as England manager. As someone who was born in Scotland it's often the case that when asked "Do you want England to win?" I surprise many by saying yes or responding with "I just want to enjoy the game". Whatever my sentiments regarding a game of football, or towards a specific country, my support towards individuals and leaders who inspire others is unerringly positive. Gareth Southgate, in my opinion, typified such a person. As a manager he was not just a leader but a mentor and advisor who looked to see people develop as players and human beings, ensuring they brought the right values into the game. He led from the front, he was open and honest, courageous yet humble, empathetic and engaged; and above all wanted to ensure his team understood that you should be the best version of yourself. Whilst I have no doubt Gareth Southgate and his team were focused on 'winning' I think he made sure that they loved being part of the journey that they all went on! #Leadership #Englandfootball #Caringforothers #Teamwork
