What is happening to prices in the electricity market?  💡 ⚡ Our latest blog post by Henry Cody explores recent energy market volatility, driven by COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine. Despite some stabilisation, UK prices remain at an all-time high due to cold winters and supply shortages as well as infrastructure issues. Henry highlights that while milder winters and a shift to liquified natural gas have helped, prices may not drop significantly until the late 2030s due to rising electrification demands. Looking ahead, Richard Palmer comments on the need for market reforms to encourage investment in long-duration storage, low-carbon generation, and nuclear power for a secure #NetZero future. Our Director of Strategic Projects, Richard Palmer recently participated in an engaging panel session at the Multimodal Exhibition and conference in Birmingham! He joined Neil Beaumont , Ian Marr, Haydn Young and Gemma Grimes for an insightful discussion. The session, titled "The Sun Shines on the Righteous," was chaired by the brilliant Clare Bottle FCILT 🇺🇦🕊 from the UK Warehouse Association. The panelists explored the challenges of installing solar panels on UK warehouses and discussed the future of #sustainability and #rooftopsolar. Richard highlighted that there is a very real and tangible opportunity to exploit solar farm scale generation on warehouse roofs in a dynamic and rapidly growing logistics market space which can capitalize on smart grid and battery storage solutions alongside the exponential growth that we will see from eHGV opportunities.   Warehouses can make a significant difference to the UK’s decarbonization strategy and, in addition, Richard also noted that rooftop solar PV on warehouse roofs can help to mitigate the potential risk of a carbon bubble for commercial real estate investors which could lead to a correction in property yields and valuations as climate risk is increasingly accounted for in transactions.  #Multimodal2024 #IndustryExperts #Syzygy #RenewableEnergy #UKWarehouseAssociation

Reflections on Intersolar 2024 with Kirsty Berry and Cécile Bousquet:     There was a great buzz about the show, huge crowds and a confident feeling in the air.     We enjoyed meeting some of our great European partners and discussing the latest market updates across Europe with our network of EPC / solar contractors.     We spent time in the technology halls taking in the latest innovations and trends. Notable were the ever-increasing product offerings for the smart integration of decarbonising technologies, PV, storage, EV and demand-side management – both on a building level and multi-building/network level. Also, with more regions following France’s lead and mandating solar car ports in car parks, the car port product range is broadening.        Solar module efficiencies continue to improve fractionally. TopCon n-type is certainly still leading the charge but other technology innovations (tandem / perovskite cells) seem ever-closer to commercial availability (some say within the next 18months).   Many manufacturers were displaying lightweight solar products for roofs with structural challenges and there were some very elegant building-integrated roof and coloured façade solutions on show.      Last but certainly not least, were further product developments to satisfy the stringent fire safety requirements that we see from insurers.        Already looking forward to next year.    #Intersolar2024 #RenewableEnergy #SolarPV #Munich #Syzygy

Another brilliant project delivered with Logicor, A 120.4 kWp rooftop solar PV system designed to maximize energy within grid constraints. The system features 280 Trina solar PV panels covering 560m2 and a powerful 100kW Huawei inverter. Providing green energy to OpenBox Logistics, this system uses 94% of its generated energy on-site, offsetting 28% of their total annual electricity use.
