While 2020 is not a year many of us look back on fondly, it was the year that brought us the giant Redgate advent calendar. In lieu of a Christmas get-together due to covid restrictions, Redgaters received a life-sized calendar of festive goodies to fill their days (and their houses). #Redgate25

In preparation for the big 2-5, there's been many a memorable birthday celebration here at Redgate. Cakes have been cut, balloons have been blown, and year after year our Redgaters have been expertly shaped into numerical formations to mark the occasion. Here's to the next 25! #Redgate25

Ever wondered what it’s like to be a DBA… in space? 🚀 In 2011, Redgate’s “DBA in Space” was the ultimate sci-fi comedy quiz extravaganza for database experts. The competition saw DBAs compete in two stages. First, they had to answer 14 fiendish online video questions and provide a tiebreaker of what they'd tweet from space. This whittled the field down to 15 finalists who campaigned to win public votes and impress a judging panel. More than 12,000 votes were cast in the public poll. The grand prize? A shade above the Kármán Line, up into outer space! After a series of video questions and a tiebreaker, the competition’s winner was chosen through a public vote and beat 5,500 other entrants to win DBA in Space. With a choice between a ticket to space or a $100,000 cash prize, the winner chose the cash saying “With money in the bank, I can make a decision when the time's right for me or even my son... to go to space". Because, after all, what DBA worth their salt doesn't have a rock-solid backup strategy in place? #Redgate25
