We don't want to make gear just for one trip. We intend to make it durable, functional, timeless, and repairable enough so it lasts for many adventures to come. Anything we can do to prolong the lifespan of our gear reduces its carbon footprint over time. After many years of hard work out on the trail, even the most durable gear starts to show signs of wear and tear and could use some TLC. Some of that gear ends up with our talented repairs team in Örnsköldsvik who’ve been known to breath new life into well loved garments that are more than 40 years old. Read a Q&A with the repairs team in our 2023 CSR Summary, here: https://lnkd.in/dtJFbFJ9 #Fjallraven
Om oss
In 1960, Åke Nordin founded Fjällräven in the Swedish town of Örnsköldsvik. Since then, Fjällräven has made a commitment to high quality and high-end design, while staying true to our mission of developing timeless, functional and durable outdoor equipment, acting responsible towards people, animals and nature and inspiring people to get outside. We want to inspire and enable more people to experience nature. We do this by developing clothing and equipment that make the outside safer, warmer, dryer and generally more enjoyable. And by running events that provide the framework and support to make nature more accessible. We’re a team of nature lovers, some more experienced than others, that likes to spend as much time outdoors as possible. In our offices and our stores we are designers, product developers, buyers, administrators, marketers, communicators, sales staff, customer service reps and business developers. In nature though, we’re all the same. Do you want to help us to inspire and enable more people to walk with nature? We're always interested in people who want to join our trek. Counting lice on an Arctic fox may not seem glamorous, but it’s potentially vital to their future and was done for the first time in 2023 by M.Sc Student Anna Henriksson. Anna, whose Arctic fox research we have posted about before, spent time in Svalbard to do fieldwork on these resourceful creatures. Want to know what Anna’s fieldwork resulted in? We evaluate materials based on their efficiency, function, chemical composition, and quantity and have targets to boost our use of preferred fibres (like organic cotton and ZQ-certified wool). In 2023 we increased our use of them to 73%. That’s 10% more than 2022. To see the progress we’ve made with materials in 2023, check out our sustainability and CSR summary. He speaks about his experiences on the trail, why these treks are so important to us, and also shares his top tips for making the most of every step. Listen here: https://lnkd.in/dNSwS2TP #Fjallraven

Whether you got your Fjällräven gear decades ago, or this is the first post you've read by us here on LinkedIn, there’s one thing you probably don’t know about us. That is: we say no, a lot, and have done so since we were founded in 1960. Not just to trends and shortcuts, but to business experts and marketing know-it-alls, too. We always thought it was better to listen to what nature and science were telling us instead. 2023 was no different, and we continued to say no to a lot of things. We’ve summarised some of them here: https://lnkd.in/dtJFbFJ9 #Fjallraven
