Celebrating a new chapter in the story of the legendary BMW Art Cars. Designed by renowned artist Julie Mehretu, the 20th Art Car transforms the BMW M Hybrid V8 racecar into a dynamic work of art, carrying on the tradition of BMW Art Cars and competitive racing. After its unveiling in Paris, this latest addition to the BMW Art Car collection will take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 15-16 June. “The BMW Art Car project embodies invention, imagination, and pushing the boundaries of possibility. This car isn't just for display; it's meant to race in Le Mans. It's a performative painting, created in collaboration with motorsport and engineering teams,” explains Julie Mehretu. “The BMW Art Car isn't finished until the race is over.” The collaboration between BMW and Julie Mehretu extends beyond the Art Car, with a joint commitment to a series of PanAfrican Translocal Media Workshops for filmmakers, touring African cities in 2025 and 2026, culminating in a major exhibition at the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa in Cape Town. The BMW Art Car is an integral part of the company’s global cultural commitment. For nearly five decades, BMW has partnered with artists who share the brand’s passion for mobility, design, technology, and motorsports. Julie Mehretu's vision for a racing car adds a powerful chapter to the BMW Art Cars series. #BMWNZ #BMWArtCar #BMWGroupCulture

A first glimpse of the #BMWArtCar20 designed by the inimitable Julie Mehretu. To design BMW Art Car 20 for the legendary BMW Art Car Collection, Mehretu transferred her signature multi-layered motifs onto the #BMWMHybridV8 using 3D mapping and inspiration from former BMW Art Car artists, BMW designers and the drivers. Mehretu’s #BMWArtCar20 #BMWMHybridV8 will celebrate its official world premiere at Centre Pompidou on May 22, 2024 (AEST) before racing at the 100th annual 24 Heures du Mans race in June. The racing team will also wear racing suits designed by Mehretu. Head to our Instagram for more previews as the car is prepared for its world premiere: https://lnkd.in/gSZEDSV8

The BMW i7 has been crowned the winner of Stuff’s Top Cars Luxury Car of the Year award, dubbing it the ‘current ultimate in luxury.’ "The i7 feels streaks ahead of its immediate rivals, to the point where it positions itself in the same conversation as its distant cousin, the Rolls-Royce Ghost. Every time you hop in it you discover some incredible new detail or nuance. It feels exclusive, smooth, and — above all else — special." says Stuff. This prestigious recognition has been prominently featured across the country in Stuff’s print titles, including Waikato Times, The Southland Times, The Nelson Mail, The Weekend Press, and The Post, marking another remarkable achievement with widespread acknowledgment nationwide.

The BMW Group is on a mission to reduce CO2 emissions. Using innovative materials in our products will be one of our key enablers to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Here are a few examples: 👉 Mono-materials made from recycled polyester for the outer fabric of textile covers. 👉 Bio-based materials leading to more than 45% reduction in CO2 emissions — compared to today’s synthetic leather.
