Equinor alongside SSE Renewables have announced that the fourth phase of the world’s largest offshore wind farm Dogger Bank will unlock additional green power 🤝 Commercial terms have been established with The Crown Estate in the UK to enable Dogger Bank D to progress, under an amendment to the existing seabed lease, subject to the final outcome of a ‘Plan-Level Habitats Regulations Assessment’ (HRA).    The proposed fourth phase of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm will unlock up to 2GW of additional energy capacity from the wind farm’s existing seabed area. With the first three phases of the wind farm already set to power the equivalent of 6 million UK homes, this increased capacity will further accelerate the UK’s energy transition. ⚡ Read more 👉 https://t.ly/g7NDW

For 30 years Equinor has safely stored CO2. Earlier this year we announced and increased our ambition for CO2 transport and storage capacity to 30–50 million tonnes annually in 2035. And last week we reached quite some milestones! First, we signed an agreement with French GRTgaz for the development of a CO2 transport system from industrial clusters in France into the planned CO2 Highway Europe CO2 pipeline project. To safely store emissions underground, we need more storage capacity available. Last week we were also awarded both the Albondigas and the Kinno CO2 licenses as operator in the North Sea. And finally, we also secured our first exploration license for CO2 storage in Denmark as operator, together with strong partners Ørsted and Nordsøfonden. These are all important contributions in our work to bring forward new future CO2 storages and industrial solutions that support the large-scale decarbonisation of industry in Europe. Congratulations and thank you for great work towards these milestones - Grete Tveit, Torbjørg Heskestad, and their teams. Photo: Equinor/Ole Jørgen Bratland

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 “𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫-𝐭𝐨-𝐗”? 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐗-𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 ⚡ It’s a big day for Danske Commodities, our wholly owned energy trading subsidiary. It just signed an agreement to be the electricity optimisation partner for European Energy and Mitsui & Co., Ltd.’s Kassø Power-to-X facility in southern Denmark. Once in operation later in 2024, Kassø will become the world’s largest commercial Power-to-X facility.  But first, power-to-X? Huh? 🤷 This refers to the conversion of renewable electricity (power) into a wide variety of carbon-neutral end products (X). In this case, the facility will produce up to 32,000 tonnes of renewable methanol (e-methanol)/year that can be utilized for sustainable plastic production and by clients like A.P. Moller - Maersk for low-carbon shipping transport 🚢 How does this work? And where does Danske Commodities figure in here? Well, the Kassø Power-to-X facility is located next to the 304 MW Kassø solar farm, which is the largest solar farm in the Nordics ☀️ When the solar farm produces more power than the Power-to-X facility needs, the surplus power will be made available to other consumers and sold in the market. When the Power-to-X facility needs more power than the solar farm can produce, the needed power will be purchased in the spot market in the most cost-efficient hours. Danske Commodities will handle both electricity balancing and facility optimisation. Cooperations like this between energy trading and production can help lead to sustainable energy solutions on a large scale. More 👉 https://lnkd.in/gWndNc5X

A first for Equinor: 💨 + ☀️ in 🇧🇷 We operate onshore wind farms. We operate offshore wind farms. We operate solar parks. Now we’ve made a final investment decision on our first hybrid renewables project, combining wind and solar 🎉 The SdB Solar Complex will be located in Bahia in Brazil within the area of Serra da Babilônia I, a complex of operational wind parks operated by our fully owned subsidiary Rio Energy. The hybrid model enables complementary wind and solar power production, and will not require additional grid capacity. The solar park will inject energy to the grid when the wind projects are not utilizing the grid capacity, optimizing total energy production. Brazil is a key area for delivering on our ambition to be a leader in the energy transition, and integrating complementary renewable technologies is part of our journey towards creating better energy solutions. New CO2 storage is an important tool in meeting climate goals📉 So we’re pleased the Norwegian authorities have made more CO2 storage acreage available for exploration… …And we’re even more pleased that we’ve been awarded the operatorship for the development of two new North Sea CO2 storages. The new licenses are each expected to store around 5 million tons of CO2/year at capacity when in operation. They are important building blocks for developing the Norwegian continental shelf into a leading European CO2 storage area 🇳🇴 And they also assist our work in building better industrial solutions to support the large-scale decarbonization of European heavy industry 🏭 More ⬇️

𝐀 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 & 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞  This Pride Month, we’re thrilled to share the inspiring journey of Claudia and Juliana, whose partnership began at university nearly 16 years.   Claudia has devoted 13 of those years to her career at Equinor, where she has navigated the complexities of being a woman and a member of the LGBTQ+ community in Brazil’s male-dominated energy industry.   Their story is one of resilience and courage. For many years, the fear of judgment and the struggle for recognition due to their sexual orientation kept Claudia and Juliana “in the closet.”   This experience is all too common for LGBTQ+ individuals in environments where acceptance is not guaranteed.   The arrival of their daughter Alice was a turning point. It brought a renewed sense of purpose and underscored that silence only perpetuates invisibility.   Claudia’s decision to openly share her story at Equinor was met with overwhelming support and marked a significant step towards authenticity and acceptance.   We’re proud to share this story, as it should always be safe to be yourself at Equinor 🌈
