Internal Quality Engineer

Exide is looking for an Internal Quality Engineer. Reporting to Internal Quality Supervisor, he/she will be responsible for quality on a production area. He/she is responsible for guaranteeing the internal quality process and procedures according to the control plan, parameters of the process and control instructions. He/she is the sponsor and must ensure the quality of the product on the different manufacturing steps, identify and analyze rejections, scrap and quality incidents on the shop floor. Support, coordinate, manage and inform quality inspectors. Follow up and report KPI´s according to QMSR, scrap/lead variance analysis, PPM´s, warranties and internal deviation permit. Support, collaborate and close relationship inside quality team - supplier, system and customer. Continuous contact with all departments/functions inside Exide to achieve business objectives, reduce product defects and ensure customer satisfaction and quality ISO standards.

Main tasks:

• Coordinate and train quality internal activities and manage a team of quality inspectors/technicians.
• Responsible for the quality of the product, ensuring processes are under control according to the control plan (internal audits).
• Identify and analyze non-conformities and make sure preventive and corrective actions on the shop floor are implemented.
• Propose process modifications to reduce internal and customer complaints.
• Develop MSA, R&R, CPK studies and contribute for quality costs reduction.
• Participate and support internal and external Audits as well as follow up action plans according to customer requirements and ISO standards (IATF 16949; ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).
• Participate on products and processes homologation.
• Perform awareness and training actions across the plant to promote the culture of quality at all levels: quality procedures and costs of poor quality. Also, when there are new implementations on the production line or new requirements / specifications.
• Monitoring and updating KPI´s and documentation related: product specification, visual aids, control instructions, action plans and other internal quality procedures.
• Participate in working groups of problem solving and continuous improvement methodology (8D; FMEA; Kaizen projects; 6 sigma).
• Have the Authority to stop the process or product when non conform.

Requirements:

• Higher education / Degree in Chemical or Engineering areas is required;
• Experience in industrial / operations environment.Desirable experience in the automotive field (experience in automotive business and knowledge of automotive customer and requirements as APQP/PPAP;
• Nice to have: previous experience in Quality area in similar functions - Quality assurance, Quality tools´ implementation and previous experience in audits environment;
• Understanding and application of SPC, 8D and problem-solving techniques;
• Knowledge of manufacturing process, machines and product application is desirable – a good understanding of the product helps failure analysis and claims resolution;
• English minimum B1;
• Perfect command of MS Suite (especially Excel) and ability and willingness to learn new software applications and other quality software (e.g. Minitab and other statistical software);
• Good communication and team-working skills;
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams, goal orientation, proactivity.
