We are looking for a visionary Magazine Editor to lead this new venture from concept to publication. If you are passionate about creating compelling content, building a brand from the ground up, and leading a talented team, we want to hear from you!

The Role

As the Magazine Editor for our new publication, you will be at the forefront of developing and shaping the magazine’s voice and identity. You will be responsible for overseeing the editorial process, driving the content strategy, and ensuring the magazine meets the highest standards of quality and relevance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Content Strategy: Develop and execute the editorial vision and content strategy for the new magazine, ensuring it aligns with the company's goals and resonates with the target audience.
• Team Leadership: Build and manage a talented editorial team, including writers, editors, and freelancers. Provide mentorship and guidance to foster a collaborative and creative environment.
• Editorial Planning: Plan and develop the editorial calendar, coordinating with the design and marketing teams to ensure timely and cohesive production of each issue. Add in links to advertising to ensure that special issues are planned out in advance to attract more advertising revenue.
• Content Creation: Oversee the creation, editing, and proofreading of all content, maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and relevance.
• Design Collaboration: Work closely with the designer to create visually appealing layouts that complement the editorial content.
• Contributor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with contributors, photographers, and industry experts to source high-quality content.
• Standards Compliance: Ensure all content adheres to copyright laws, ethical journalism standards, and the magazine’s editorial guidelines.
• Quality Control / Final Approval: Review and approve all content and layouts before publication.
• Audience Engagement: Monitor reader feedback and analytics to guide editorial decisions and improve content strategies.
• Budget Management: Develop and manage the editorial budget, ensuring resources are used effectively.
• Marketing Coordination: Collaborate with all internal teams to align content strategies with business goals and promotional activities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Magazine Editor or in a similar editorial role, ideally with experience in launching new publications.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• In-depth knowledge of content management systems and digital publishing.
• Familiarity with SEO principles and best practices.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of the magazine’s target audience and industry trends.
