Excited to share my experience attending the “#SustainabilityInPackaging MENA" conference held on May 22-23, 2024, in #Dubai, organized by Smithers.
The event featured a series of insightful presentations by eminent speakers from packaging user and converter industry across #MENA and #Europe. A standout session was delivered by Stephen Harrod from Smithers, who provided a comprehensive "Global Packaging Market Overview." His data-driven presentation offered clear insights into global metatrends and market growth within the #packagingindustry. 📊
Another highlight was the presentation by our esteemed IIP Alumni Association, Kaunain Shahidi , a true #PackagingIcon in the MENA region . For over two decades, Kaunain sir has elevated the packaging standards across MENA. His presentation was remarkable, showcasing advanced sustainability approaches and strategies. His concluding remarks resonated deeply: "Circular economy is not about letting go of materials; it's about redesigning a system through life cycle thinking by using lifecycle design processes.” ♻️ INDIAN INSTITUTE OF PACKAGING - IIP INDIAN INSTITUTE OF PACKAGING - IIP
The "BIG BRAND PANEL" discussion, chaired by Ben Daniel of Packaging MEA and featuring representatives from #Henkel, #PepsiCo, #Coca-Cola, and #Unilever, provided critical perspectives on #sustainability and #EPR. The panel delved into how brand owners address #consumertrends, regulations, #wastemanagement, and #designingforrecyclability.
It's encouraging to see the growing awareness of packaging sustainability in the MENA region. Countries like #UAE, #SaudiArabia, #Qatar, and #Egypt are setting ambitious packaging sustainability targets, supported by appropriate #regulatory guidelines. 🌱
As always, it was a pleasure to see members of the #PackagingSuperPowar IIP Alumni Association, my seniors and juniors from IIP: Swaminathan S V , Santosh Kumar, Rudra Dasgupta, Ramesh R, and Kaunain Shahidi.
Another great meet from the event was tuti buntaran a Founder of @first packaging Asia, Indonesia. Her passion for packaging is incredible even at this age. Glad meeting her and learned her experience visiting IIP Mumbai back in 2006.
