This exceptional gathering brought together the world's leading tissue manufacturers and technology suppliers to discuss and improve the environmental impact of the entire value chain. Hello, my name is Felix and I am currently in my third year of training as a paper technologist at WEPA. ❓ Why paper technologist? With 12 colleagues in one shift and around 60 people in the department, we are a really big team. And that's exactly what I like so much. The training is varied and something new awaits me every day. But the best thing about my apprenticeship is still that I can see what I've produced at the end of the day. ⌚ What exactly do I do as a paper technologist? Every day is different and there's always something new happening. That's what I find so exciting for us trainees. We can learn so much. Our main task is to control and monitor the work processes and rectify any problems so that we always produce high-quality products. 🙌 How do I like the paper technologist apprenticeship so far? During the first two years of training, we paper technologists work on the day shift to learn the basics of our process steps. From the third year of training, we work in a three-shift system. From then on, I think you get to know the profession from a completely different perspective. The variety between the school blocks at the papermaking school in Gernsbach and the time spent in the company make the apprenticeship particularly interesting for me. #WeareWEPA #together #WEPAapprentices

🌱 Constructive exchange with EU lead candidate Terry Reintke, MEP Last week Terry Reintke, the German and European Green Party's lead candidate for the European Parliament, visited us at our WEPA headquarter in Arnsberg, Germany. In a constructive exchange of views on the challenges facing our industry and the key regulatory changes that will set us all on the path to a more sustainable future.  The promotion of a functioning internal market e.g. for secondary raw materials, the financing of the transition to a more sustainable transformation and access to affordable and sustainable energy were among the topics of the discussion. 🌍 #WeareWEPA #together #sustainability

Behind the tissue: Willi Bracht, Clerk Technical Projects WEPA and I – we’ve spent half a century together. I’ve been working at WEPA since I was 22. Before that, I was with the police, but that wasn’t the place for me. This is my world – the machines and technology, and the intricate details behind them that set such exciting processes in motion. As a technician for machine tools, I go wherever a mill has a problem in converting, and I work with the team on-site to solve it. I’ve travelled great distances in my career with WEPA. I’m sure I’ve been to Poland over 100 times, and I’ve even travelled to Brazil and the USA on behalf of the company. I feel like I’m really a part of WEPA’s history. And no wonder – in my 50 years here, I’ve not only got to know Martin Krengel and his father, Paul, but also seen the mills grow. What’s always impressed me is how Martin manages to remember the names of all the employees. Paul Krengel could do that too. I also remember how Paul always carried a little calculator with him that he pulled out whenever we were telling him about one of the machines. He worked out all the key numbers and made a decision on the spot. I’m 72 years old now, so I could have retired a long time ago. I’m still doing this job not because I have to, but because I enjoy it. And 50 years with WEPA – I think that’s an anniversary I can take a bit of pride in. #WeareWEPA #together #career
