💡 The larger the #Voith factories in the end of 19th century became, the more difficult it used to be to maintain the old system of individual assistance in the event of illness. This led to the introduction of the company #health insurance fund in the Heidenheim #industry. 🚑 ➡️ This health insurance fund was introduced at Voith in 1871 and was the only one that also accepted workers from outside the company. These had to be between 25 and 30 years old and were examined by the #company doctor before joining the insurance scheme. The health insurance fund was administered by representatives of the workers. 🏭 At that time, there was no fixed employer contribution; instead, the company contributed money as required. This changed when the German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck introduced compulsory health insurance in 1883. Employees and employers now paid a fixed contribution rate based on the level of wages. 🤝 #hse

This month, Voith celebrates the 60th anniversary of its Brazilian headquarters. This milestone invites us to look back with pride at the numerous achievements and many challenges we have overcome to reach this point. Throughout these six decades, the Brazilian headquarters have consolidated their regional operations and brought Voith’s global expertise, spanning over 150 years, to various industries. Today, Voith sets standards in the markets of #energy, paper, raw materials and #transport & automotive. Thus, the history of Voith Brazil is interconnected with the development of the country's entire industry and infrastructure. Today, we can say that Voith Brazil is part of a trajectory of growth, consolidation, and advancements that have transformed our markets. Congratulations to all award winners! 🎉 The Hanns Voith Foundation Awards were presented this year for the 12th time. A total of four outstanding research theses by young scientists were honored in the categories Drive Technology, #Innovation & #Technology/Artificial Intelligence, New Materials and #Hydropower. The master's theses convincingly met the high scientific standards of the Foundation Awards and were also awarded top grades. Im Frühjahr 2024 durften wir die neuen Trainees des #Innovate Talentprogramms bei Voith Turbo begrüßen. In diesem 18-monatigen standortübergreifenden #Talentprogramm bilden wir unsere Top-Fachkräfte von morgen aus. Dieses #Talentprogramm dient als #Direkteinstieg für technische Positionen für Masterabsolventinnen und -absolventen. Die Trainees werden hierbei von erfahrenen Voithianerinnen und Voithianern im #Mentoring begleitet, gestalten unsere Zukunftsprojekte mit und arbeiten an spannenden technologischen Innovationen. Im Zuge dessen fand am 18.06. der Innovate Day in #Sonthofen statt, der das #Networking der Trainees mit erfahrenen Führungskräften sowie eine Besichtigung des Standortes zum Ziel hatte. Eingeleitet wurde der Innovate Day durch eine kurze Standortbesichtigung mit anschließendem Impulsvortrag zum Thema #Leadership und #Motivation in Krisenzeiten durch den Standortleiter Matthew Watts. Danach ist die Gruppe auf die Alpe Altstädter Hof gewandert und lies den Tag dort bei einem entspannten Essen und guten Gesprächen mit tollem Ausblick über das Allgäuer #Alpenpanorama ausklingen. #talentprogram #career #voith #innovate

One year of donations to more than 40 families: that is how the Instituto LariAmor plans to apply the financial support received from the #VoithCares program. The institution is among the 50 projects selected worldwide to receive a donation in support of its activities. In Latin America, the program has chosen six institutions. Among its initiatives, the Instituto LariAmor donates meals to homeless and vulnerable people in the city of São Paulo, delivering more than 100 food kits every week. 🎉 Today in 1840, Friedrich Voith, the patriarch of the Voith family business, was born in Heidenheim. His father, recognizing his sole son's potential, emphasized the importance of education, leading Friedrich in 1855 to study mechanics at the Polytechnic Institute in Stuttgart. Despite the financial burden, Friedrich's commitment to learning paved the way for his successful career in the machinery industry. His expertise in water turbines and paper machines was refined through various roles, including his time at the Zurich Machine Factory Escher Wyss and the technical office of Heinrich Voelter in 1859. Friedrich Voith’s journey continued in 1863 at the machinery manufacturer Henschel in Kassel, where he gained further insights into mechanical engineering. 🎓 On January 1, 1867, Johann Matthäus Voith handed over his company to his son Friedrich with retroactive effect. Friedrich Voith turned his fathers workshop with 30 employees into a global company with around 3,000 employees, which he left to his three sons on his death in 1913.
