    Deep Tech Talent shortage - how to navigate hiring as a growing Start-Up In the fast-paced world of deep tech startups, the race for top talent is more competitive than ever. Everyone is facing significant challenges in finding skilled talent to drive their groundbreaking innovations forward. From quantum computing to photonics, the demand for specialized expertise is soaring, yet deep tech talent remains limited. What are the obstacles? ➡ Niche Skill Sets: The deep tech industry requires highly specialized skill sets, such as expertise in quantum physics, photonic design, engineering, and computer science. However, these skills are in short supply, making it challenging for startups to find professionals with the right combination of qualifications. ➡ Competition from Tech Giants: Large corporations, particularly from the US and Taiwan, are investing heavily in expanding their presence in Germany, creating tens of thousands of deep tech jobs. This heightened competition for talent makes it difficult for startups to attract and retain skilled professionals, especially when competing with corporate salaries. ➡ Relocation Challenges: Recruiting talent from outside the EU poses additional challenges, including navigating complex visa processes, language barriers, and housing shortages. How can you navigate these obstacles? ✅ Collaboration with universities: Attracting junior talent right after graduation can be a big lever, especially if your salary budget is limited. Initiatives like hosting hackathons, being present at job fairs, speaking in lectures, or inviting groups to visit your facilities will grow your brand recognition amongst students and attract them to join your team after graduation. ✅ Training and education:  Talent should not have to fit 100% of a role's requirements. Every role has its must-have and nice-to-have skills and requirements. Decide which skills can be taught - if they bring 70% of the main requirements, they can learn the remaining 30% on the job. Given these rare profiles, and in light of a very competitive labor market, companies need to prioritize and treat talent just as they do with their customers: understand their target groups, and tailor the full process along attraction, development and retention to their specific needs. Talent Tree and especially our Founder Julian are deeply intertwined with the Ecosummit.     Welcome to the team, Gabi! 🌻 🌳 Last week, Gabriela joined our team as a Talent Scout - but it feels like she has always been around! We love her can-do attitude and solution oriented mindset. Gabi brings a high detail orientation combined with creative sourcing strategies to the table, which make her a perfect addition to our team. Also, every meeting with her is filled with good vibes and a positive attitude 💚 Gabi enjoys doing sports, especially soccer and kick-fit (kick-boxing and gym). She is also a poetry lover, who loves to spend time outside in nature. Her favorite flower is the sunflower and it describes her personality a lot - she always gets excited when she sees one.
