That was fun! Last Friday, we celebrated our annual summer party. There was delicious food from a food truck, cheerful music from the band "always chilled" and an interesting team-building game in which the participants had to build a vehicle and compete against each other. A very insightful workshop! 💡 The first part of this years project management workshop took place at the end of May with the aim of providing new impulses for our daily work and our planning. The main focus was particularly on the topic of generations in transition. A big thank you to our friends from tgim - thank god it's monday for the insights and the game to promote team spirit. Looking back, it was a very fun and informative day for all participants. 👏

We as a team have decided to use the name and the letter “X” to emphasize the crossing of the two paths of GreenTeam and Rennteam. The new car represents the combination of the years of experience of both teams, which is also reflected in the design of the car. WBI is famous for its wind tunnels. However, we’re sure that some of you already asked yourself the following question: „What exactly is a wind tunnel?“ A wind tunnel is a kind of a machine in which models of bodies, especially vehicles, are exposed to airflow to determine their aerodynamic, acoustic and climatic behaviour. There are also different types of wind tunnels, which are ought for testing and covering all the different requirements – from aero to acoustic and snow to rain. Today, we are interested in several sub-areas of wind tunnels, which can also be seen as their main components. 👉 First of all, the airline design and shape. The airline design is an important piece of a wind tunnel, which has many variations and is customized by WBI for each individual purpose. 👉 Secondly, the airline nozzle, which is responsible for aerodynamic quality but not limited to it. WBI develops and designs the nozzle shape inhouse, alongside frequent researches and deep aerodynamic developments. 👉 The heat exchanger is also a key component, when it comes to overall pressure loss of the airline. As part of the airline, it ensures low-energy wind tunnel operation while maintaining the targeted ambient temperature during testing. 👉 Next up, the fan. The fan has a customized design. Its diameter is up to nine meters and can possibly be even larger, if necessary. There are aerodynamic and aeroacoustic designs for the various wind tunnel types. Talking about five or even more MW power is common practice in that field. 👉 Also very important is the so-called rolling road system The system can combine moving road surfaces, force measurements and can even turn a car in the tunnel. This allows tests to be carried out from the side of the vehicle. WBI has many years of experience to show when it comes to rolling road systems, in detail the integration of multi-belt and single-belt systems. For example, in motorsports, it is common to install single-belt systems, that have also been integrated by WBI and serve as a tool for the F1 development environment. 👉 In terms of „special features in motor sport“, WBI integrates and develops inhouse superior tasks for wind tunnel applications, for example adaptive wall systems, PIV systems and many more. WBI plans the quietest and any kind of wind tunnels for 20 years now and can draw on the longstanding knowledge of SBI.
