Visited one of the largest rice exporters of Asia recently, having a PETKUS Seed Calibration Line in one of their processing plants in India. The customer relies on PETKUS to produce the highest quality paddy and maize seeds for their global market. It is a proud feeling to witness their operation since almost a decade of installing them, and it's incredible to see them still operating efficiently. The customer has been using PETKUS's A12, M12 seed cleaners, G40 gravity table, and CT20 Chemical Coater for their seed processing needs. Did you know that at PETKUS, we use not only wet paint but also powder coating? Here’s how our process works and why it’s a game-changer for quality:
𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰
▶ Hanging Station: We hang various parts, whether small, large, light or heavy.
▶ Washing Plant: Parts are degreased, rinsed, and coated with a protective nano-ceramic layer in four zones.
▶ Powder Cabin: The electrostatically charged powder is applied here.
▶ Powder Baking Oven: Finally, the powder is burnt into the part.
▶ Dehanging Station: We unload cooled-down parts and commission them for assembly.
𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬
Our overhead conveyor system automates material handling with a 10-minute tact per process step. After hanging, parts undergo a four-stage pre-treatment for cleaning and corrosion protection before the powder application. In the powder cabin, the powder is electrostatically applied. IN three stages, the powder is then burnt into the part in the oven at 175°C for 27 minutes, ensuring a flawless finish. After cooling, the parts are removed and prepped for assembly.
𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠
✅ Efficiency: Powder coating dries faster than wet paint, allowing quicker reuse and increasing production efficiency.
✅ Durability: The coating allows for stronger damage protection, showing no chipping, and provides higher weathering resistance.
✅ Automation: The process can be largely automated, enhancing productivity.
✅ Quality: The nano-ceramic layer improves powder adhesion and corrosion resistance for a long-lasting and high-quality finish.
Wet paint is still used for heat-sensitive assemblies or plastics, which cannot withstand the high temperatures of powder coating and large components that do not fit in the line.

PETKUS was part of the grand opening of Zone 89, Premier Tech Systems and Automation's new seed application center in Ankeny, Iowa, equipped with state-of-the-art PETKUS technologies.
This full-scale facility offers clients the unique opportunity to experience the latest in seed processing technologies in an operational set-up - including optical sorting, gravity separation, and seed treatment.

With an investment of €288 million, this state-of-the-art malting complex has chosen PETKUS as the supplier for an extensive range of cleaning and grading equipment for barley and malt. Agrária is now working with one SD30, three VX, three X225 Airmax, two X225-VX, two S30 Airmax, and eight indented cylinders.

Our Australian customer, overseeing extensive hectares dedicated to producing top-tier Pyrethrins technical products, recently integrated the advanced optical sorter OS f3.0 at their production facility. Derived from Australian-grown pyrethrum daisies, pyrethrins are a vital natural insecticide active ingredient.
The OS f3.0 meticulously removes unwanted seeds such as Lolium spp. (Ryegrass), Anthriscus caucalis (Burr chervil), and Torilis nodosa (Knotted hedge parsley), along with other impurities and off-type pyrethrum seeds. This technology is the first of its kind installed in the Southern Hemisphere.
The successful installation of the OS f was facilitated by our partnership with GTE Technology, who completed the installation and commissioning at the client's production facility.
