When we were asked to transform an event concept in the heart of Provence into a meaningful story in 2023, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. The picturesque Luberon, with its famous ochre mountains, had already been chosen as the perfect setting for this upcoming event. While we aren't designers, our passion for colour runs deep. (Stephanie Speckmann already had tons of books on colour in our office and had even attended colour making workshops herself years ago, also in France, by the way.) It was clear that our focus would be on pigments, the craft of colour making, and the inspirational process behind it — thus combining our clients' craft of developing vibrant and deep colours with the rich history of the region. Thankfully, Mazda Motor Europe (the semi-secret client here) trusted our vision. Together, we delved into the world of colour, its psychology, the creative process behind the scenes and conducted insightful interviews with designers and pigment experts. This collaborative effort was the key to the event's success. It was Easter Monday this year: 2024/04/01. And due to Easter, Stephanie Speckmann's mums birthday, a national German holiday and thus a long weekend off, we forgot our own birthday. Because of a lucky coincidence, we just received a message from a former client who mentioned a holistic communication concept we developed for them years ago. This concept included promotional and event elements, classic PR, and influencer relations. It's been 8 years since we first created it, and it's still actively in use. They love it, and it continues to work effectively for them. We became aware of its enduring impact until last week, and it feels incredibly encouraging. When you discover a story that resonates at your core, there's no need to seek a new one. Precisely a week ago, we let us pull into the magic of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” - a ballet by Christopher Wheeldon, performed by the talented company of Bayerisches Staatsballett. We especially loved Laurretta Summerscales as Alice and Julian Mackay staging as Jack of Hearts alongside Ariel Merkuri as Lewis Carroll aka the White Rabbit. Not to forget: Elvina Ibraimova as Queen of Hearts, who resembled quite a bit Lady Gaga ❤️🌟 As we organised this influencer and press event for LLOYD Shoes GmbH to mark a night in fine style, we also celebrated the universal language of dance and the beauty of human expression. Especially the ballet performance of “Alice” is something we felt, blending (and bending) dreams and reality, creating a unique experience. Me, Stephanie Speckmann, writing this post, remembered my younger self wanting to work in places like the theatre, film or ballet, weaving stories together and bringing joy, magic and this state of forgetting yourself for a moment into the lives of others. You might say, I enjoyed a personal full-circle moment. Thank you Laurent Hilaire, Laura Imsirovic & the marketing team of Bayerisches Staatsballett for this opportunity. We are still full of joy. Here is a note from our founder Stephanie Speckmann: Last week I briefly met a publisher telling me about the dropping numbers of his magazine. And I see it, the struggle is real. Foremost, the struggle for budgets & the continuing of partnerships. And still, I feel we all need to be careful & stop the funeral oration shouting out „print is dead“. Because what we all witness is change & transformation. And you want to know why? Many editorial teams (and sales) of various publishing houses have contributed their time, energy and ideas to 360-degree concepts that do reach people. People that read. People that watch. People that want to learn, want to be entertained. They developed successful media formats online, offline, social and even D2C events. As Masali GmbH being a PR agency, we closely work with journalists to tell our clients‘ stories e.g. via podcasts, YouTube videos, influencer cooperations, press releases and yes, also in online and offline magazines. Print is not dead: Because many publishing houses diversified their (former print) brands and these days make them accessible on various platforms. Digital and analogue. We all cater to a bouquet of channels. Our work and the work of journalists and sales teams are even more diverse than it used to be 10 years ago. Btw: the publisher I met still believes in paper, co-creation and community & is just about to uplift his product to a premium niché level.
