Escondida is an open pit copper mine in the Chilean Atacama Desert. It's the highest producing copper mine in the world, comprising 9.5% of the world's output of copper. The high spatial resolution of Dragonette-001 has captured many details of the mining pit and surrounding features, which can be useful for operational and reclamation planning purposes. #wyvern #hyperspectral #satelliteimagery #spacetechnology #smallsat

Lake Powell is the second largest reservoir in the United States (behind Lake Mead), with a total capacity of 3 billion cubic meters of water. Due to sediment flowing in from the Colorado and San Juan rivers, Lake Powell loses more than 41 million cubic meters of water capacity per year. The high spatial resolution of Dragonette-001 can be used to map and monitor shoreline recession and water quality. If you look closely in the reservoir, you can see a rainbow boat which is an artifact caused by fast moving objects and our line-scan sensor! #wyvern #hyperspectral #satelliteimagery #spacetechnology #smallsat

Happy Canada Day from Wyvern’s Headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta! Advancing innovation in Canada’s Space technology sector, Wyvern is proud to contribute to the growth and diversification of Alberta’s economy. From preventing wildfires to improving agricultural practices, Wyvern’s earth imaging data supports critical environmental and economic applications on Canadian soil coast to coast. Canadian Wyvernians from Campbell River, B.C., to Montreal, Q.C proudly embrace Edmontonian values of humbleness and grit. Together, we are committed to positioning ourselves as leaders in creating a better Earth, from space. Visible in the image below are the three iconic waterfalls that encompass the Niagara Falls. The largest of the three, Horseshoe Falls, is the largest waterfall in North America, and straddles the border between Canada and the United States. #wyvern #hyperspectral #satelliteimagery #spacetechnology #smallsat

Global attention returns to stadium turf as millions of soccer fans tune in to #CopaAmerica and #Euro2024. Regulations require stadiums to install natural grass for the games - but how can fans tell the difference on their television screens, when artificial turf looks so realistic? Natural grass can be distinguished from artificial turf by measuring the spectral reflectance of the playing surface. This is accomplished using Wyvern’s high resolution hyperspectral bands, which provide more effective material identification than the human eye. In this image of Algiers, artificial and natural fields are distinguished in the near-infrared portion of the light spectrum, where it would otherwise be impossible to tell from a simple visual inspection. What materials on earth's surface are of interest to you? #wyvern #hyperspectral #satelliteimagery #spacetechnology #smallsat

Pakistan’s Indus river valley experiences dramatic seasonal fluctuations in soil moisture and vegetation cover. During the hottest months of May and June, agricultural production (indicated in red) is at its lowest. Bare fields indicated in pale beige and grey are at their highest concentration, and will return to a “red” vegetative state after the monsoon season. Monitoring the impacts of extreme heat waves and intense rainfall can be achieved with our high-resolution hyperspectral Earth imaging, so as to measure the dramatic fluctuations in vegetation and water availability. #wyvern #hyperspectral #satelliteimagery #spacetechnology #smallsat

Urban parks play an important role in the social, economic and physical well-being of cities and their residents around the world. To maximize these benefits, urban parks must be in tip-top health. Monitoring the health and diversity of living structures and landscapes is a critical measurement for informing park staff where, and how to optimize maintenance investments. This image of Central Park measures plant chlorophyll abundance, mapping sections of the park that have the healthiest tree canopies. Dark green indicates healthy, dense tree canopies, light green areas indicate less vegetation, and yellow and red areas of the image indicate human-made structures or water features where no plant chlorophyll is present. #wyvern #hyperspectral #satelliteimagery #spacetechnology #smallsat
