On this day 55 years ago, #NASA launched the Apollo 11 lunar mission and three astronauts began their journey to the Moon. One major task during the mission involved installing a lunar laser-ranging retroreflector designed to measure the distance between the Earth and the Moon within a millimetre. The first lunar ranging tests were completed in 1962 and were designed to better understand the Moon's gravitational forces. By installing a reflector on the Moon's surface, scientists could begin measuring these forces with higher precision. This work was vital to developing GPS and other GNSS satellites as scientists could better understand impacts on a satellite's orbit and synchronicity to control stations. The Apollo 11 retroreflector was the first to be installed in space; now, every satellite is equipped with this proven technology to uphold the highly precise position, navigation and timing measurements people rely upon every day. A significant challenge to the use of #GNSS signals for positioning, navigation and timing (#PNT) is that they are vulnerable to various types of interference sources. Whether unintentional, such as interference from other technologies in your positioning solution, or intentional, like jamming or spoofing, interference threatens the reliability and trust of your PNT. Learn how to mitigate and build resiliency against these threats in this article from Velocity about the 2022 #NorwayJammingTrials >> https://hxgn.biz/486P6jb #JammerTest2022 #JammerTest2023 #NowReading

Collaboration and connection — that’s what formed the basis of our recent cross-divisional internship mixer between Hexagon's Autonomy & Positioning division, Hexagon Asset Lifecycle Intelligence and Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence divisions. In the first-ever event of its kind at Hexagon AB, this virtual gathering brought together our talented interns for a session of networking, learning and, of course, some fun. Alongside meeting new peers and expanding their professional network, participants were also able to delve deeper into life across Hexagon. This included learning more about our organisation and the diverse and exciting career opportunities available across our numerous departments and divisions. Thank you to our HR and internship teams for hosting what we are sure will be the first of many more events to come. #Internship #Collaboration #InternshipOpportunities #LifeAtHexagon
