This South Australian council came to us looking for a solution to replace old unreliable stations and to expand on their network for their rapidly growing fleet of EVs. The council had zero visibility on the status of their current network of chargers but now with the Smappee Cloud Software they have the ability to monitor and control their new assets remotely.

Very exciting to see round 2 of the NSW destination charging grants has been released by NSW Department of Planning and Environment. We're also ecstatic to see they're using a lovely example photo of a Smappee EV Base charging station, installed at Dawning Day Farms as part of the first round of funding. This unit was supplied and installed by the team at Timothy Electrical and connected to Chargefox, Australia's largest public charging network, to manage sessions and billing. These will be installed across two facilities with partial funding from the Government of Western Australia as part of the Charge Up Workplace EV Charging Grants scheme. Everyone likes an informative graph or two, right? We recently put together an example solution based on a strata site with a limited three-phase 80A capacity. This was to demonstrate how many charging stations could be installed without the need to increase the supply. In this scenario, active load management more than doubles the capacity for charging stations. It still allows roughly 30kWh of charge for each of the 21 EVs during an overnight charge, with capacity to spare. This is much more than the typical daily charge requirement. Many vehicles will need much less than 30kWh of charge every night. In this scenario, charging could be scheduled to start during off-peak rates to reduce costs and demand on the network. Dynamic load management also takes into account other loads being fed from the 80A supply and power factor. Vista Power Technologies specialises in offering load managed EV charging solutions.
