Creativity is... During my time in the Middle East, I met some truly formidable women. From our first meeting Nouf Mohamed Al-Bushlaibi's fierce passion for ideas shone through. In the spirit of David Ogilvy's divine discontent, good was never good enough. She wanted work that broke glass ceilings. And that is exactly what she achieved in the 3 years she has been leading marketing and comms at Department of Culture & Tourism Abu Dhabi. About the campaign: On behalf of GEMS Education, Memac Ogilvy conducted nationwide research across more than 7,500 youths, revealing the worrying state of their mental health. Findings showed more than 40 percent of adolescents and teens are anxious or stressed all the time. More than 70 percent won’t or can’t talk about it. This is because it’s a language they were never taught. So, through a collaboration with The Thrive Wellbeing Centre, we created a new alphabet to help them learn. The Alternative Alphabet adopts the classic word-to-letter association we learn as infants and applies it to mental health conditions and symptoms. We turned it into an original, fast-paced card game to empower youths with the knowledge and skills to identify, define, and safely discuss wellbeing and resilience. The game was so successful, that it has now been integrated into the official curricula, altering the way we teach mental health in schools. It has been our honor to work with Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) for the launch of its global PR campaign for #Saadiyat Cultural District (SCD). This campaign is very close to our hearts. It is a message of cultural hope from the UAE and Abu Dhabi, inspiring people to embark on journeys of creativity and innovation. It narrates the story of #SCDabudhabi, one of the greatest concentrations of cultural institutions, and its role as a global platform for creativity, innovation, and opportunity. Saadiyat Cultural District is a testament to Abu Dhabi's commitment to preserving heritage while embracing a forward-looking vision. The brilliant teams at DCT, along with amazing individuals from across the world—cultural ambassadors, inspiring leaders, creative visionaries, and more—came together to bring this campaign to life.
